A. J. Edmond Company was
established in 1965 and began providing sampling and analytical services to
Petroleum Refineries and Solid Fuel Brokers in Long Beach, CA. Later the
company expanded its’ operations to the US Gulf Coast in Texas City, TX and
Port Arthur, TX in 1985, and in the San Francisco Bay area in 1998.
In 2004, the company acquired an
Anode Research Facility located in Mead, Washington. With this added
capability, the company has been providing research and development related to
calcine coke properties and anode behavior, laboratory scale rotary calcining
of green delayed petroleum coke, and the use of lesser grade green coke for
anode manufacturing to the aluminum smelting industry globally.
In 2006, the company started sampling
and analytical operations of Petroleum Coke and Coal in Luisiana.
In 2008, the company started
providing its’ sampling services in Europe in affiliation with other
inspections service providers.
In 2011, in affiliation with
marine surveyors, A. J. Edmond Company started providing a complete package of
Hold Inspection, Draft Survey, Sampling and Analytical services for various
commodities at ports located on the US West Coast.
In 2023, the company was acquired
by RMA Group, the leading Construction and Engineering service provider.
In 2025, the RMA Group rebranded
as Certerra.
As of 2026, through Certerra network, the company offers inspection, sampling, analytical services for the commodities Coal, Green Delayed Petroleum Coke (GPC), Calcined Petroleum Coke (CPC), Fluid Coke, Pitch, Biomass, Tire Derived Fuels, Sulfur/Sulphur, Iron Ore, Asphalt, Liquid Fuels, Cement and Cement Raw Material, Iron Ore, Battery Materials, Aggregate, Lime Stone, Soil, Solid Waste, and other solid commodities almost every states in the United States.
